communities, call them what you will, the
demand is as strong as ever.
Many buyers are quite happy to live in a
quality, mixed age community and become one of
the neighbors. Others prefer age restricted
communities where they can live amongst
people of the same age. Active adult
communities are however the most popular
with retirees and pre-retirees, where they
have easy access to sporting activities and
fitness spas. One level floorplans and easy
maintenance are key features for many buyers as they "downsize" their homes,
freeing themselves from day to day
maintenance, which in turn gives them the
freedom and opportunity to live a little.
Many of the communities on offer are not age
restricted and if you so choose you can mix
with your younger neighbours. There are two
veins of thought on this - you don't wish to
live near families with kids because you
have moved to get away from it all or by
mixing with the younger you will stay

Essentially an
Active Adult
Community is a
gated community
that caters
primarily for
adults that
enjoy to " be
active" -
whether that be
playing golf or
tennis, taking
their boat out
for the day or
any number of
other
activities.
The
real estate could be anything from a condo to a gulf
access home, everything is covered including
townhomes, courtyard homes, carriage homes and
villas. There is without a doubt something for
everyone.
More
and more of these active adult communities also
offer onsite fitness centers, spas, restaurants,
clubhouses and an important factor for many buyers
moving to a new location - security.
The
majority of baby boomers will have already tried
specific regions, areas and in many cases individual
communities and have a very good idea as to what and
where they wish purchase. The amenities and
facilities plus the location will dictate the
overall cost of your new home - there are however
many stunning new communities available as well as
the more established ones throughout Florida.

these Age
Restricted
communities are
split into two
distinct
categories.
The
most common being + 55 and older communities,
whereby normally one of the partners must be of 55
years old or older.
Senior Housing stipulates that residents must be at
least 62 years old and in some cases 65.
Both
categories offer real estate for most budgets and
include condos (normally low rise), townhomes and
smaller independent homes and villas. Fitness
centers and sporting amenities are often included
within the community. This is now one of the growing
real estate markets in the United States
