Single family homes in Florida are the number one choice for families living in Florida. Demand for single family homes is driven by the privacy, the space, the storage and the yard, especially by families who need as much room for the kids as possible and somewhere for the parents to retreat to for a little peace and quiet. Back in the seventies many single family homes were constructed within sub divisions but not necesarily in communites or gated communities, but since the eighties the demand for gated communities and master planned communities has risen. Offering a safe and secure environment for the children to play in, sporting amenities, parks, bike and walking trails as well as grocery stores, bars and restaurants in some of the larger communities.

Waterfront single family homes and golf course homes are at a premium given their presitgious location and from an investment perspective they will typically fair better in a slow market than regular homes. The same goes for gated community single family homes holding their price -especially in well run maintained and popular communities, more so than a home on a street with no "on site " facilities.

Vacation homes tend to be single family homes, particularly in and around Orlando as they have a strong history of renting out far better than condos or townhomes. Visitors on vacation like to be able to a lifestyle befitting their normal standard of life back at home and as most people live in a single family home, why would they wish to stay in a condo for 2-3 weeks especially if they have young children?

However this is not always true, traditionally in coastal areas and in coastal cities, where space is at a premium, trafiic is heavy and parking almost impossible. This is where the vacation condos come into play and many of the condo owners do very well renting out their properties close tot he beaches.. That said, there is a huge market for vacation single family homes in te coastal areas when they are within walking, biking distance or only a short drive to the beaches.

Single family homes in Florida come in various shapes and sizes, architectural styles and locations. Regardless of which area you choose to live in, chances are, there is a single family home with your name on it. One that will give you the interior space that you need, having the right orientation, offering one or more garage spaces, sometimes with a swimming pool and always with a yard. The only compromise you will normally have to make is how much you are willing to pay for the right property.
